Junction 40 on M6: take A66 east. After 1mile at roundabout, turn off on 2nd exit feft, signposted A686 to Alston.
Drive through the village of Langwathby towards Alston. Go past Brief Encounters cafe on right to top of the hill, about ½ mile. Take first right towards Skirwith (brown-signposted Blencarn Fishing). In Skirwith, take left at slight fork on the green; It's almost straight ahead really. Be careful at the crossroads. Go straight over, signposted Kirkland. (If towing a glider trailer, it is best to fork right to go round the tiny green to get onto the Kirkland Road). Watch out for the elegant hens.
In ¾ mile turn left at the wooden footpath sign and yellow Edensoaring sign mounted on the wall. If you go past you will end up in Kirkland village. Follow lane 300m in the direction of the hills, then left over a cattle grid into the farm.
At the farm, bear left to go in front of farm buildings and very SLOWLY through the yard. There are dogs about. Continue down the lane to a gate and then up into the gliding field.
Stop at any tape barriers, call on 129.975MHz radio or 07849 979575 (Edensoaring airfield mobile) to speak to the duty instructor. Wait near the club house for someone to welcome you.
Glider pilots: please do not rig until you have checked with the duty instructor.
FROM A66 South/East
Leave the A66 at Temple Sowerby, following B6412 to Culgaith. Find your way to Skirwith, or failing that to Langwathby. From Langwathby or Skirwith follow the above directions.
